Blockchain technology has reached almost every industry, including religion. To finance the Scholas Occurrentes educational program, sponsored by the Catholic Church, a group of Argentinians will launch a collection of Pope Francis NFTs. The goal is to strengthen the implementation of free educational projects for thousands of young people around the world.
Blockchain technology has reached almost every industry and social activity of humanity. Even religion. So much so, that even Pope Francis will have his own NFT collection.
This Thursday, a meeting of young people from Scholas Occurrentes with Pope Francis took place. It was held at the Urbaniana University in Rome, Italy, and was the chosen venue to officially announce the launch of a collection of NFTs for charity, inspired by the highest figure of the Catholic Church.
The goal of the NFTs is to strengthen the implementation of free educational projects for thousands of young people around the world who are part of the Scholas program and who seek to promote a culture of encounter through meaningful education.
One of the crypto industry leaders behind the project is the Argentinian Santiago Siri. "What I can tell you today is that we are going to launch a collection to help finance Scholas Occurrentes," Siri told Forbes Argentina. "It is a globally recognized educational NGO that works with young people from all over the world and promotes the ideas of Francis," he continued.
The event was attended by various personalities from the Blockchain world, the promoters of this art collection, and young beneficiaries of Scholas programs around the world. This event gives Scholas Occurrentes the opportunity to start participating in a space where young people are spending more and more time today, such as the different multiverses.
The project aims to introduce Web 3.0 education into the Scholas Occurrentes programs, while promoting job opportunities and the development of the artistic vocation of young people through digital art. This initiative was born within the framework of the opening of the first edition of the educational program of the Fratelli Tutti Political School, which took place in November 2021 in Rome, as a consequence of the introduction of the web 3.0 education program in the school.
According to what Forbes Argentina could find out, for the moment the NFTs of Pope Francis will not be released. It is estimated that their launch will be in July and some of the artists who will be involved will be Alejandro Cartagena and Justin Aversano.
On the other hand, those involved in the project point out that "it was MakersPlace, in its vocation to empower artists and democratize art, who joined this joint project".
The platform hosts different pieces of digital art, corresponding to the collections, for their minting and sale. MakersPlace uses blockchain technology to facilitate the sale of authentic and original digital works of art, which guarantees rarity and ownership for both creators and collectors.
MakersPlace has emphasized accessibility since its inception and has attracted a large audience as the first NFT marketplace to accept cryptocurrency (ETH) and non-cryptocurrency (USD) payments, which it facilitates through crypto wallets and credit card transactions, respectively.
